I began exploring different lid variations for my lampshade designs as early as Winter of 2020. The initial designs were clumsy and inefficient. With the goal of reducing print times, mitigating first-layer surface area and overall defect rates, I set out to create the ultimate lid design. After a myriad of iterations and refinement cycles, I arrived at this mixed-media design that is modular, scalable and easy to assemble. A few months after its development and accompanying validation testing, I decided to file a provisional patent to protect the core intellectual property interests. I am currently in the process of converting the provisional patent into a fully fledged utility patent within the coming months.
