ICARUS DRONE

I designed this drone during my capstone undergraduate course, ITP 467 - Applied Business Operations. Normally, this class involved designing, manufacturing and selling a unique product out the labs on campus. However, I took the class in the midst of Covid. I was initially sad that I wouldn’t be getting the opportunity to fabricate in-person, although, I soon realized the freedom to dream big with design. I completed this project alongside 16 group members, each of us bearing a unique role - my title was chief of design. Over the course of 10 weeks, we built a comprehensive roadmap for launching a startup around the business cleaning solar panels with drones.

My professor in this class would always ask “how do you eat an elephant?” - “One bite at a time”. Ideating, designing and validating a drone concept was far beyond my abilities, until I learned how. Sketching in the early phases of ideation was paramount for communicating concepts and fleshing out ideas.
